Make it to the Castle
Whenever you're ready, speak to Savlian Matius to begin the battle. Follow him out of the temple and clear out the daedra. Don't worry too much about keeping Savlian alive, he just falls "unconscious" and will get back up eventually (but all of your other allies are very mortal.) Eventually, Savlian and his men will reach the path that leads to the castle only to find that the gate is closed shut. He sends you to find Berich Inian, who is still in the temple and has the key to the guard house.
Gatehouse
When you return to the temple, reinforcements have arrived. Ask them to follow you, then talk to Berich. He will lead you into the Chapel Undercroft, which leads back outside, then to a hidden tunnel leading to the gatehouse. At this point, Berich departs (your friendly Imperial Legion compatriots will stick with you, though). The tunnel is straightforward and free of enemies. At the end, take the ladder up and out and into the gatehouse (it can be hard to see in the darkness). Head to the end of the gatehouse and open the gates. Berich, Savlian, and his remaining men will rush in headlong into the courtyard -- follow them and try to keep them alive (although, again, Savlian can only be knocked unconscious). You can try to give them a fighting chance by shooting arrows (or magic) through the holes in the gate before opening it, but if you wait too long, Savlian's group will be attacked from behind.
Into the Castle
Once the courtyard is clear, Savlian will run into the castle. Approach him and he'll tell you to go find the Count while he takes care of the main hall. Onward into the great hall. There's a book that increase your acrobatics skill on a shelf on the right. To the north of the great hall is the Count's bedroom. What a mess! Alas, poor Count Ormellius Goldwine is dead. The first time you search his body, the quest notification will tell you to take his signet ring back to Savlian, but doesn't give you the ring automatically -- you'll have to search his body again to get it. Back in the main hall, inform Savlius of the Count's death to complete the quest. If you give him the ring, he'll give you his Kvatch Cuirass in return, an enchanted light armor. The cuirass gives a minor boost to Strength and Endurance (exact number depends on your level range upon completion of quest.
