War
Vçnî, vîdî, vîcî:
War. What can be said, but war? Plenty, that’s what! And you’re about to see it all! War between two nations is a delicate thing, and certain rules must be observed for it to work properly. Wars must be kept to one topic per two countries! This is to avoid confusion and cluttering. However, should the same two countries enter war two or more times, a new topic, titled appropriately (AKA chronologically) may be created.
How to Make a War:
In order to engage in war with another kingdom, one must formally declare war upon them in the Diplomacy board. For more information, refer to the guide in the Diplomacy section. But remember, one can only war with countries of the same category. This way, powerful countries cannot take advantage of the weaker ones. Once war has been fully and honestly declared, the parties involved may meet to fight in a single topic in the war board, created by the aggressor. The topic must contain the names of both countries involved. If you wish to name your war, you may do so in the topic itself or in you kingdom topic, not the war topic title. Once a topic has been created, the two countries may meet.
This is where things really start to heat up. Before the attacks can begin, both participants must be present (AKA both have at least one post in the topic). This is to ensure that the wars will be active. Players should feel free to contact the other participant via the wonderful PM system should they fail to arrive. Should one of the countries fail to present itself within three days since the topic was created, that country will automatically agree to an unconditional surrender. Once both participants have posted, the attacks may begin. It is absolutely imperative at this point that you adhere to the rules of war. That means that countries must take turns attacking and that players must make no attempt to modify their posts. Any attempt at cheating will NOT be tolerated, and will result in an immediate ban from the RPG. If you suspect anyone of cheating, please contact an administrator or moderator.
Now for the fun part: Attacking. After each attack, the next poster must post his current HP along with an attack of their own. To attack, simply click the “reply,“ button, after which you should be taken to the “Post Message,“ screen. After typing in your HP value, simply press the “attack,“ button, which can be found in the list of tags directly above the smilies, usually located under the “Colors,” slot (See the picture at the end to see an example of the attack button.). Be sure to leave a space between your HP value and the attack. Now you simply post the reply, and a percentage will be calculated for you. Please, do not put any text other than attacks and HP reports in your posts, else they will be invalidated. Except, of course, for bonuses, but more on that later. A player’s HP is based upon their post count, and your current HP can be easily found by subtracting the value of the most recent attack from your previous HP level. Attack values are random, and may range from one to one hundred. If you are having trouble, most computers have a built in calculator. If, for some reason, you are unable to access your calculator, feel free to ask for assistance; or you could surrender, it’s up to you. Unfortunately, there is a known issue with the current attack script. If you encounter an error during one of your attacks and, instead of seeing an attack value, a number appears, please make no attempt to modify or delete the post. Simply make a new reply and try it again. It is an error with the current version of the script and there is nothing we can do about it. Thank you for your patience.
But let’s just say that you’ve got a bit of extra gold, and you want to give your attacks a little more power. Well, you‘re in luck, because now there’s a way to get rid of some of that cumbersome gold and do some more damage in the process! But how, you say? Why, it’s a little thing called an attack bonus! Bonuses are very easy to use, and they can give you the edge in a tight situation. To use a bonus, simply insert a plus sign below the attack itself, followed by a number one through one hundred, then highlight it and make the text yellow, so as to make it more noticeable. This number will then be added to your attack percentage. Please note that all bonuses must be calculated manually by the recipient, as the script does not account for them automatically. But remember, these aren’t free! In fact, they’re relatively expensive. To find the cost of a bonus, simply take the added percentage and multiply it by twenty. That’s how much gold it will cost. Yes, I know, pretty expensive. But, when used correctly, an attack bonus can mean the difference between victory and defeat, so use them wisely! And don’t hesitate to use a bonus if you think you’ll need it. Oh, one more thing: Do NOT use more than three bonuses per war! The bonuses don’t stop there though! You could also use a health bonus! Health bonuses are handled exactly the same as attack bonuses, in that they are added after the attack, cost twenty times the amount, and can range from one to one hundred. But there are three key differences. Chief among them is the fact that health bonuses add to your health, not take the enemy’s away. Also, health bonuses should be listed in green, not yellow. And lastly, only one health bonus is permitted per country per war. Once again, the health bonuses must be calculated manually and should be added after the post in which the bonus appears, not during the posting process. So, in the end, a proper post with an attack bonus should look like this:
---
158 HP
[attack=246744342153641]
+20
---
The war officially ends when one player’s HP reaches zero. Afterwards, the players may discuss the terms of surrender in the Diplomacy board. There are restrictions as to how much the victor can demand in payment, however; the winning country can choose how much gold they receive, but they cannot take more than three fourths of the loser’s gold. Each players HP will be refilled at the end of each war. If at any time you are confused, don’t be ashamed to ask for help! Remember, the moderators and administrators are there for your assistance. And in closing, just because it’s war doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!
