The Thieves Guild There are two ways to join the theives guild. The easiest method is to read one of those gray fox posters (they're everywhere) and then talk to a beggar about the gray fox (the beggar has to like you) The beggar should ask if you are looking for him. Tell him that you want to work with the Gray Fox. The beggar will tell you to go to the Garden of Dareloth (behind the abandoned house) in the Imperial City Waterfront district at midnight.
The other way involves going to jail (hint: not as a visitor!). Just get caught doing anything from tresspassing to assault (murder will get you into the Dark Brotherhood) in the Imperial City. After you have served your time, wait an hour or two for someone to come and give you a note that says to be at the Garden of Dareloth at midnight.
The next step should be obvious: Go to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight. If you have trouble finding it, just wait until about 12:30. There should be someone named Armand Christophe holding a torch, that's him. There should also be an argonian and a wood elf. If they are not there, then you cannot continue.
Initiation
Once everyone is present, speak to Armand, he will tell you of your initiation, which you must pass to be accepted into the Theive's Guild. The test is this: Steal the journal of Amantius Allectus. There is only one rule, you cannot kill Amantius Allectus or your rivals. If you don't have lockpicks now, buy some from Christophe for 5 gold each. Bribe a nearby beggar to tell you about Amantius, and they will reveal that he lives in the Temple district near the east end. go there now. Find the house and pick the lock. Methredhel should be waiting for you inside (unless you were really quick about it) and will gloat a little and then slip out through a trap door. Don't try to follow her. Don't worry, she hasn't won yet. She still has to wait until next midnight. She has a house in the Waterfront district, and at 6:00 pm she and her roomate are out eating. Now is the time to rob her. Steal back the diary, and rob her of anything else of value while you are at it (you'll need it later).
Now wait untill midnight and give the diary to Christophe. You're in!

Independant Thievery This part may seem overwhelming, but it really is very easy and short.
Armand wants you to do some independant theiving. This means going out on your own to almost any place you want to rob and, well, rob it. Once you have a good amount of loot, you are to go to your local fence to sell your catch. At this time, you have only one identified fence: Ongar the World-Weary in Bruma. There are pretty much no rules here (you can even kill!).Pretty much any house/castle/Inn/store/whatever is a target. At first, you don't have to sella lot of loot. Here is a nifty little chart requirements:
*Warning: the titles of the quests may be slight spoilers*
Quest____________________________________Fenced Item Requirement May the best theif win - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 00 Untaxing the poor - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -50 The elven maiden - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -100 Ahdarji's heirloom - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -200 Misdirection - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -300 Taking care of lex - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -500 Arrow of extrication - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -700 The ultimate heist - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -1,000
Now, you could get 1,000 in one go and get it all out of the way so you won't have to keep stopping to rob some places. That's what I did. Or you could do it as you go. Whichever you prefer. Now, Where to go? What to steal? I suggest any castles or ( my personal favorite) Red Diamond Jewelry in the Market district. These may be tougher choices though. So if you find that something is too hard, Just rob a few upper class houses and stores, and work your way up.
Once you hit fifty, you will be ready for your next quest.

Armand's Quests Mission 1 Untaxing The Poor
Heironymous Lex of the Imperial Watch has decided to collect taxes from the poor, dirty people of the Waterfront. Something which hasn't been done in a long time (and for good reason! The cost to collect the tax is almost as much as what they collect!). Armand wants you to take back the money and the tax records, and give the money back to the people. For a price, any nearby beggar will tell you that Lex has an office in the south watch tower in the Temple district.
You will need lockpicks for this one. Your best bet is to go at night, when every one is asleep. Once on the second floor, you are officially tresspassing, go up two ladders (the second one is locked) and you are in Lex's office. there should be a locked desk nearby. Pick the lock and take the gold and the records. Now you just have to get it back to Armand. Which may be complicated depending on your timing.
And that's it! Now you just need a total of 100 golds worth of stolen goods sold to a fence, and you are ready for the next mission!

Armand's Quests Quest 2 The Elven Maiden
Nothing too special here, Armand wants you to steal a bust of the late countess of Cheydinhal. Travel to Cheydinhal and bribe a beggar to learn that the bust is in the haunted/guarded undercroft of the chapel. Go there now and study the guards movements. Wait until she is at the east end before trying to get the bust, grab it and leave. No problem.
Travel back to the Waterfront and get your reward. Mission complete!
Wrong! The Waterfront is swarming with guards! And they are looking for Armand and the bust. Talk to some guildmates to learn that Armand is in hiding and Methredhel is looking for you. Wait for an hour or two and she'll come to you. It turns out that no one commisioned the theft of the bust, they were just using it to draw out a traitor in the guild! The traitor is none other than Myvrynra Arano, and you are going to frame her.
You need to infiltrate Myvrynra's house and place the bust, then tell Lex that she is the theif. This may be trickier than it sounds with all the guard activity in the area. Myvrynra's house is just west of where lex is standing. Be patient and wait untill there are no guards watching before you pick the lock and plant the bust. Once inside, activate the cupboard near the bed to plant the evidence. Then head back outside and speak with Lex. You'll have to boost his disposition up to around 70 before he will believe you.
Now just sit back and watch the events unfold. Myvrynra is locked up in the nearby jail, where you can visit her at any point in time. Meet Armand for your reward and a referral to S'krivva in Bravil, from whom you will take future quests.

S'krivva's Quests Quest 3 Ahdarji"s Heirloom
S'krivva lives in Bravil near the north gate, but don't go in her house unless it's unlocked. She deals drugs on the side oand does not take kindly to intruders. If you can't find her at her house, check the Lonely Suitor Lodge. If you have fenced 200 gold, you are ready to start this quest. Ahdarji in Leyawiin has lost a very important ring to a freelance theif. You are supposed to get it back.
As usual, check in with the local beggars to find out where to find Ahdarji. She lives on the west side of town, has lunch at the Five Claws Lodge, and has dinner at the Three Sisters Lodge. Once you find and speak with her, you may be surprised to find out the the freelance theif is no other than Amusei, your old rival. Ahdarji wants you to make him suffer. you can find him in the castle dugeon, but if you bribe the guards, you will be able to visit him. Bribe the jailor 20 gold and he'll let you through.talk to Amusei to learn, for the price of a lockpick, that the ring was stolen before he laid his scaly hands on it. The ring used to belong to the countess! Amusei had tried to sell it back to her, but was locked up instead.
Check back with Ahdarji to find out that the ring is more than it appears to be. She uses it to decode secret messages. She will now double your reward for returning the ring! But now you have a challenge on your hands! Infiltrating a castle is hard enough, but stealing directly from the countess is another story! Now, go talk to a beggar to learn of a contact within the castle, a Hlidara Mothril. pay 10 gold to learn of a suggested time and place to find her. She eats dinner in the castle at 8:00 pm. You also may hear of a hidden torture chamber, but I'll come back to that.Go to the dining hall at 8:00 to find Hlidara. raise her disposition to 80 to learn everything.
At 11:00, go down to the cellar, and go to the storage room at the end. On the west wall there is a barrel with a lever inside it. Activate it to reveal a secret pathway! continue along the path, through the torture chamber, and into the Royal Quarters! Pick the lock on the jewelry box and take the ring and the book if you want it. Head out the way you came in and talk to Ahdarji and S'krivva for two rewards!

S'krivva's Quests Quest 4 Misdirection
Once you have fenced 300 gold worth of stolen goods, head to S'krivva to get this quest. It appears as though the troublesome Heironymous Lex has pulled guards from other parts of the Imperial City to the Waterfront district in search of the Gray Fox, effectively halting the guild's progress. You need to find Methredhel and have her fill you in on the details. Travel to the Imperial City to see for yourself. Sure enough, there seems to be more guards here, a curfew is in effect, and Armand Christophe is under house arrest! You can speak to Lex to learn that the Waterfront is "Closed for business". For a few coins, a beggar will tell you that Methredhel is currently residing in Dynari Amnis's house in the Talos Plaza district. Head there now.
Methredhel has a plan to force Lex to call off the guards. Shes is going to arrange five simultaneous burgleries in prominant places across the Imperial City. And you are going to steal Hrormir's Staff from the Arcane University. The theft is not a hard one, but it's not all you have to do. You also must place a note from the Gray Fox in the Arch-Mage's nightstand. Which also isn't hard. Sneak into the Arch-Mage's chambers between 1am-7am, or 9am-11pm, then just take the staff and activate the nightstand. Return the staff to Methredhel and you are ordered to spy on Lex. He is in the same place he always is, so just get comfertable. It could be a long wait (about 15 minutes for me, though it happens sooner for some people) until the messenger arrives, so get comfertable. After a while, a dremora will appear with a note for Lex. Lex will read the note, then drop it and leave, taking his guards with him. Pick up the note and read it if you want.
Now, return to Methredhel to get the last of your orders: Return the staff. Wimpy, I know, but you have to do it. It's too dangerous to return it directly to the university. Instead, you must drop it off in a chest at the house of Ontus Vanin in the Talos Plaza district, to the southwest. the chest is upstairs near the southwestern wall. Now you are done! Head back to Bravil for your reward.

I'm usually on right after school and also later in the evening or at night. But don't expect me to be too active in the afternoons. That's when I write my fanfics. I believe you advertised on the board on Gamefaqs in which I write my stories.

Yea I get on right after school and as much as I can because I got to keep this forum up and running and make sure no one is breaking the rules because that will make the site look bad to visitors and I can't tolerate the rules being broken. I am not very strict but I don't play around with rule breakers. They get banned by IP Address immediately.

I completely understand where you are coming from. I myself have deleted quite a few topics that made Hyped Gamez look bad.

Yea a few people have done that to us but I try to keep everything under control. I can't wait until we get bigger and I get more trustworthy members that can be moderators and can help me keep everything under control but I current have a very quick and accurate system when it comes to deleting posts and banning members.
