Rules are simple and are here to protect our members and make sure they have the best time they can with The Elder Forum. If you have any questions or comments about the rules please feel free to contact me any time you wish. Please read the rules before posting.
1. Have fun, meet new people and just be a friendly person. Treat other members as you want to be treated, with respect and understanding.
2. Show up, help out, and have fun each week with the forum.
3. Please try to keep the swearing , cussing, profanities, name calling, whining away. Remember you will appear to represent all of us on the forum. Please TRY to set a good example on the forum.
4. Cursing/Swearing is not allowed.
We do not allow any bad language on these forums. Swearing, even with asterisks, intentionally misspelling, or other characters replacing letters is not allowed on this forum. Doing so will result in a warning for bypassing the censor.
5. NO hacking. All attempts to guess passwords is logged. You will be I.P. banned if you try to guess an admin or other members password.
6. Always treat people fairly and act civil and human to friendly people.
7. When using the forum or the private message system please do not post any material that is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
8. Please do not post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or you have consent from the owner of the copyrighted material. Spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also inappropriate to this site and forum.
9. You have the ability, as you register, to choose your username. Please never give your password out to another member, for your protection and for validity reasons. Never use another member's account to post messages or browse the forum.
10. Please think of other people. Please help me to make other people's experience with The Elder Forum the most enjoyable you can.
11. Spamming/Cross-posting are not allowed.
Spam is the posting of advertisements, abusive, or unneeded messages on Internet forums. Off topic comments, or posts that have little or no relevance to the subject being discussed, or a post that dos not contribute to the thread and repetitive threads are all considered spam on this forum.
Bumping, or posting to bring your thread to the front is also considered spam here. If you have asked a question and it has not been answered, please be patient. If it falls to the third page or so, you may post to bring it forward once after several hours but doing so more than once will get your topic closed and a warning for spam.
Cross-posting is asking the same question via starting a topic in more than one section of this forums. This is not allowed. Please note the different sections and try to post in the appropriate section.
Should you realize you have posted in the wrong section, please ask a moderator to move it. The moderators will be happy to assist you with getting it to the appropriate section.
12. Flaming is not allowed.
Insulting individuals or groups of members and name calling are flames. Any remark that is made to insult another member or group of members will be considered a flame and thus you may receive a warning for it.
Calling people a troll or an apologist for instance can both be considered a flame as can calling someone stupid or ADD. Attacking Xbox players, PS3 players or PC players is not allowed and calling them "console kiddies" or in anyway indicating someone is in some way a lesser person because of their choice is considered a flame here.
13. The only criticism that is allowed here is constructive criticism and that is welcome.
Constructive criticism criticizes a proposed idea. Criticism that is directed against one person, be it a moderator, another member, an individual developer, a certain moderator or a group effort are all forbidden.
This means that when you voice your concerns, please do so in a way that offers a vehicle for improvement. If you see something going wrong, feel free to say so, but also say something about how to set it right.
It also means that posts that run down other members or factions among the membership who may not agree with you are still out under the rules against flaming and flamebaiting.
14. Posting about moderator or administrator action or inaction is also against the rules of this forum.
Please feel free however to contact the moderator involved, another moderator you feel comfortable with, our community manager Ben2028 if you disagree with a moderator action. Our moderators do not mind taking a second look or discussing an action with the other moderators and admin to assure they have acted fairly. So if you think you've been treated wrongly or that unfairly, be sure to send a PM. Sometimes moderators make mistakes.
15. Creating threads regarding another user's account is against the rules.
We do not allow discussion of users accounts in threads. If you have any questions regarding the account of a user who is for some reason unable to access these forums, please send a Personal Message (PM) to a moderator or administrator.
Creating a thread or bringing up a banned user's account is not allowed. If there is another reason that they can't access their account for one reason or another please ask us directly and we will look into it. Similarly, we do not allow public discussions concerning peoples warnings or warning level. This includes discussing your own warnings.
16. Creating threads about other threads, or locked threads
We do not allow threads to be created about other threads, this constitutes cross-posting or advertising. We also do not allow threads to be made about why something has been locked. If you want to know why a thread has been locked you should PM a moderator, it should not be discussed on the forums.
Often a thread will be locked before a moderator types an explanation, so it is best to wait a few minutes before contacting a mod if no reason has been posted for the lock.
17. Only Staff members can post in different colors. We have this rule so that you will notice when you have been corrected by a moderator and it will be more visible than ordinary text. Posting in colors is considered staff impersonation.
If any of these rules are broken you will be warned or banned from the forum. This is a place for nice people to get together to discuss Oblivion in a clean environment and breaking these rules in any way will not be tolerated.
